The fool, with all his other faults, has this also—he is always getting ready to live. ~ Seneca, quoting Epicurus |
I recently read the quote above – it made me pause and think about my 2020 action planning. It’s common to hear some version of the words: “Some day, I’ll…” “When I’m older I hope to…” “I’m not ready right now but…” “If I ever finish this, then I’ll…” What makes us think we have that luxury? That we’ll have the time? Life is already happening, right now. Working, playing, bill paying, art making – they have to happen now.

We don’t have a guarantee of any future time, so we would be wise to make the most of what we do have, now. It’s easy to forget that in daily life. I don’t know about you, but I have a list of “future art projects” to work on… eventually. Of course, I won’t magically find the time. I’m pretty sure there isn’t any spare time hiding in my couch cushions. I need to intentionally set some aside to pursue those life goals – to make the time. What about you – do you have a list of future art projects that need to be worked on?
Cheers!
