I recently listened to this podcast episode about a rural artist and how she makes it work. This quote about taking a break from painting while her kids were small caught my attention – “I abandoned painting because painting with small children is like taking your own appendix out with a fork.”
She returned to her painting when the young children season passed.

It’s a much smaller version of the one in New York City and faces west towards its larger sibling.- The Butterfly Artist Collective is gathering this evening at the Art Guild of Create from 5:30-7. Free networking meeting with a guest speaker so that all can share and learn from each other.

- Thursday from 4-5:30 head to Create Art and Tea for Art Lectures with Bindu: Opening up a new understanding of art.
- Head to the ELHI Community Center (115 Ute St, Ignacio) Saturday from 10-3 for the Craft Fair and Meet the Trucks Extravaganza. Arts, crafts, foods and more! There will be face-painting, lawn games, a bounce house, and special guest vehicles to check out.
- Are you a beginner/intermediate acoustic music player looking to play more? This weekly jam is welcoming to all players, with a focus on slower tempo improvisation solos and chord changes. If you can play the I, IV and V chords in G, D and A then you know enough to play at this jam! Head to the General Palmer on Tuesday from 5:30-7:30 to join in.

Whether they’re internal (stage of life, family, physical limitations) or external (weather), we all have seasons we go through. Sometimes we have abundant time to create – others we have to squeeze in what we can.
No matter how much time and energy you have available – it’s possible to stay in touch with your creative side. Sometimes that means working in a completely different way and size. Sometimes it just means that completing a project takes longer.
Whatever season you’re in – keep on creating. The world needs your art!
