The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong in the broken places. ~ Ernest Hemingway |
It’s easy to look at someone else and only notice the good things. How well they’re doing, how easy it looks, and how amazing it turns out. Of course, that’s not true. We always end up comparing our worst parts to someone else’s best parts. No wonder it looks harder on our end!
We all have idiosyncrasies and flaws. They make us unique. Different. One of a kind. How can you leverage them even more in your life, work, or art? Doing so helps you and your creative work stand out from the herd!
- This week’s artist is – Reuben Wu – whose work I just ran across. I played around with drones at a past workplace but never had this much fun with them! Reuben creates a lot more than these Aeroglyphs, be sure to check out his website and instagram for more (including music and videos)!
- If you’re thinking of giving a custom framed piece as a holiday gift, hurry and get your appointment scheduled to make sure we can get it done on time! Our last day to order custom materials for the holiday will be next Friday!
- I don’t know how many of you have an account with Bayfield’s Pine River Library, but they just announced access to CreativeBug, a collection of arts and crafts video tutorials.
- The 17th annual Festival of Trees is available online this year! It will be available from Noon Dec 4th until 5pm on Dec 6th.
- Noel Night is this weekend, and it’s 3 days this year!
- Looking for something to read? Durango Book Rescue is giving away Free books this Sunday, from 11-3pm at Downtown Security Storage..
- I haven’t worked through it yet, but I might have to go through this self-directed course on the slide rule.
- Ever wonder about the status of the pineapple? Here’s a bit of history about it.
- This is a great explanation of finding inspiration (and some advice for doing the same).
- The Durango Arts Center is again hosting the Winter Solstice Artisans Market. Swing by from 12-6 from Wed-Sunday until Dec 23. Check out their website for more info.
Yes, there is bad chaos in our lives. Things fall apart, plans are shattered, and dreams delayed. We must constantly fight to overcome the bad chaos. But sometimes the chaos is good. An unexpected blessing. It shakes things up, opens new ways of seeing, expressing, and living.
May you find the uniqueness within your brokenness, and celebrate the good chaos in your life. Let yourself be infused into your art. The world needs you. The world needs your art!
Cheers!
