Art is an effort to create, beside the real world, a more humane world. ~ Andre Maurois, French Author |
Yay, we’ve been able to see you again! It’s so thrilling to have the chance to offer you supplies via curb-side pick-up once more! Tentatively, you’ll be allowed to come in and peruse for yourself on May 8, but everything’s still in flux and there are unknown requirements for everyone to meet first (until yesterday it was May 1). Similarly, we’re back to work in the frame-shop, catching up on projects – but we aren’t accepting new projects until you can come in and we can design them in person. Until we know more, we’ll keep on keeping on.
- This week’s artist is – Jon Foreman – While I’m not exactly precious with my artwork, I can’t imagine making work that I know will be washed away or kicked over by passerby! However, I can appreciate the process itself, of which Jon recently wrote, “Repeat processes are always very therapeutic and this is a good example of that, getting lost in the process is an important part of land art.” If you like these samples, be sure to check out his website and instagram for even more!

- I just found out that our very own Lexis designed this t-shirt – artivist. How fun is that! (They also have a line of shirts where the profits are going to support health care workers and vulnerable populations.)
- The book of the week is – Color and Light by James Gurney. If you want to learn practical color theory, start here. James is also the author and illustrator of the Dinotopia series – which is just a fun story and filled with amazing art!
I’m going to hurry and wrap this email up and get it sent out before something else changes and the info is all out of date. Take advantage of the great weather, get out for some fresh air – it does a body (and mind) good! Make time to make your art – you and the world both need it!
Cheers!
