In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks. ~ John Muir |
It appears that we closed the Art Supply House right on time, with the Governor’s Stay Home order coming into effect today.
Personally, most of yesterday was spent one of two ways. I either spent the day with my daughter or watched art videos! Some great videos on youtube (like a studio tour and color mixing) and bookmarked courses to start on SkillShare. I’m excited to dig into those today and also start making some art for myself!
- I was recently reading a book to my daughter (Lily – she’s 3 months old) and thought that it would be a great time for all of us to hear that message. So if you want to hear a Dr. Seuss story – here’s a video for you. 😀
- Whenever you feel stressed or anxious, try the 4-7-8 “magic breathwork” technique. Breathe in through the nose for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, and breathe out through your mouth for 8 seconds. Repeat this pattern 4-8 times. It works amazingly well!
- There has been interest expressed in a virtual portrait party, so I’m compiling a list. If this sounds fun, reply and let me know! I’ll pair everyone up to draw each other’s portrait from a photo. Yes, all media is accepted – digital, painted, drawn, sculpture, etc. a photo.
- Though we don’t have the store open at this time, you can still support us financially:
- We signed up as affiliates for SkillShare. If you sign up for their free 2 month trail, we get a small payment. And if you’ve been wanting to learn a new skill or piece of software – writing or business aspect, they have courses for you! I’m going to be refreshing myself on photoshop and seeing what else they have to offer. (And this isn’t new, Kristen recommended SkillShare to everyone she met for at least 6 months when she first dove into it.)
- Additionally, we’re Amazon affiliates. If you start at any one of these links, anything you purchase (even if not from that link) will pass a trickle of income to the Art Supply House – and your price won’t change, you’ll just be helping us out.
That’s all for today. I just wanted to touch base and let you know that the world hasn’t ended (and doesn’t appear that it will any time soon). You’re not alone, we’re all in this together. Even though the state is staying home, nature still isn’t closed. Stretch your legs, get some fresh air, and make some art!
Cheers!
