Since you are like no other being ever created since the beginning of time, you are incomparable. ~ Brenda Ueland |
I don’t know if you’ve ever read Big Magic: Creative Living Without Fear, but I recommend it. It talks about how creative ideas have a time and an energy of their own. How they will appear to you when their time is right – and if you aren’t ready to realize them they will move on to the next person so that they can emerge into the world. Or they will appear to multiple people at one time.
Last winter I was inspired to paint a landscape based on a scene near my house. I took reference photos, made some sketches to get the composition correct, primed the canvas… and now I just can’t quite seem to see the painting. It’s interesting how project visions can come and go.
- This week’s artist is – Tomás Sánchez – whose work I recently ran across. If we aren’t ready to appreciate some idyllic art (do you see the people enjoying the scenes?) then I don’t know when we might be. Be sure to check out his website and instagram for even more art!
- If you didn’t already reply, your feedback about what resource I should make during this time would be invaluable! If you’d take about 45 seconds to respond here, it would be most helpful!
- Want to make your favorite movie feel new again?
- The second best thing you can do right now is to be productive.
- If you’ve ever read The Oatmeal, here are things learned in 10 years of writing it.
- Here are some great free art tutorial videos. I’m watching the one by Cesar Santos on figure drawing.

- Looking for something to do? Here are free coloring pages.
- Lots of museums are offering free virtual tours.
- Along with virtual tours of National Parks!
- And there are free virtual concerts.

As I mentioned in this morning’s email, I have been getting out to appreciate the warmer temperatures. I’ve also been watching the seedlings in my starter sprout up with much glee. I can’t wait to get some of them planted! Hopefully you can get out for a bit of fresh air, and that a stroll will provide inspiration for your art. Art inspires, salves, and energizes. The world needs your art!
Cheers!
