A multitude of small delights constitute happiness. ~ Charles Baudelaire |
I recently went to the pool at the Rec Center with my daughter. We’re there at the pool, walking from one swim feature to another, and she stopped to splash in a little puddle. I caught myself thinking “it’s just a puddle, the pool is only five feet that way.” But I also caught on to her delight at getting to splash in a puddle, to stomp and make a splash.

It’s easy to get caught up in our daily lives. For us to strive for something more, or bigger, or better. Along the way, it’s easy to overlook the small wonders in our lives right now. Listen to the birds chirping, the wind in the trees, the glint of the snow in the peaks, or the sound of the water flowing in the stream. Personally, sketching helps me to pause and notice the things around me. Stopping and looking with a sketchbook in my hand is a great reminder to appreciate the world around me (no matter how poorly the sketch may turn out). Whatever it takes for you, don’t forget to splash in the puddles! The world needs you, and your art!
Cheers!
