Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you, spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life. ~ Amy Poehler |
One of my favorite parts of college was the energy of being around so many other artists. That enthusiasm and passion was contagious and I loved the opportunity to get swept away in it. Art project ideas were tossed about and freely shared, the possibilities were endless. If I were stuck it was just a matter of turning to someone nearby for advice to get the project moving again.
- This week’s artist is – Lena Danya – an artist in Florida who I found on YouTube. She’s an oil painter with a focus on water and elements of the female presence in her work. Lena’s done a fabulous job of using social media to build a career as an artist – check out her videos to see her working, behind the scenes, art tips, and more. Not to mention her instagram, facebook, and website!

- Park Elementary School is seeking artists for a mural project on the east-facing wall of their school! The elementary school is located at 510 E 6th Avenue. The muralist has the option to keep the design contained within the 1st level 5′ band around the windows, or expand up onto the 2nd level. This wall is highly visible from the bus pickup/drop-off and to pedestrians. The mural must feature original, one of a kind, new work. If known images are used, the artist is responsible for obtaining all copyright permission and paying all license fees. Just like being in art school, I love being part of the Art Supply House. You come in with a gleam in your eye, excited about your current project or eagerly contemplating the next one. Sometimes it’s the other way around – you’re unsure of the next step but we can help you along with a fresh perspective. We all boost each other’s energy and help to ensure that the creative muses are busy feeding us ideas. Thank you so much for the opportunity to be a part of this community! For allowing us, in whatever small way we can, to help you make your art!
Cheers!
Matthew & the Art Supply House crew
